Hi Everyone!
I'm in Cannes right now getting some sun and having a wonderful time. I'm sitting in the hotel lobby (the only place with wireless internet) and thought what a perfect time to check in and let you know that I haven't fallen off the face of the planet.
As you all probably know I'm taking a little break right now. I didn't realize how much I needed one until I actually got home. I'm not the kind of person who likes to rest but it's growing on me. However, the work that I have done on the road in the past 16 months has been the greatest experience of my life (one day in the distant future I'll have kids but until then, this tour has been my baby). I have traveled the world and sang for most of you (hopefully...if not...i'll be out again sooner than you think). "Thanks" just doesn't feel adequate to convey my emotions about the support and excitement you have shown me not only on the road but in the last 4 years. I know I say it EVERY post.....but thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without you I would be...well probably doing the same thing but not for as many people....and I'd be on my computer WAY too much.
You have shown me not only a down to earth appreciation for the music, but also what incredible people and humanitarians you are with your generosity through my foundation and others. Through your efforts, the Josh Groban Foundation has raised well over 200,000 dollars to be distributed to help children all over the world! It's only the beginning so congratulations on such a tremendous start and I look forward to working with all of you to make the foundation larger and even more effective in the many years to come.
Now that I'm off the road you're probably wondering what I'm doing with myself. Besides having a few BBQ's and seeing the occasional movie (everyone see Kung Fu Hustle!!, I'm gearing up to make the next record. I've had so many ideas on the road and can't wait to get back in the studio. Thank you in advance for your patience. Having been on tour (which was obviously very important) I was not able to record for the album so the next one will probably be out next spring of 06. But fear not. I'll have lots of stuff that I'll be doing before that happens. I'm auditioning for some films which I really hope to do in the next few months...I"ll let you know how that goes. I'll also be making a few concert appearances as they pop up and if it's something I want to do. For instance, I can't wait to work with John Williams again this summer at Tanglewood and I juts signed on to perform at the Hollywood Bowl for Stephen Sondheim's 75'th birthday celebration. I'll probably be doing one or 2 songs at that and it will be a dream come true to sing for him.
Also, for everyone on FOJG.com...look out for the coming newsletters that we've all been working so hard on! Hope you enjoy them!
So yeah...thats it for now but I'll check in again from some far away place soon I'm sure. Thank you as always for keeping JG.com and FOJG.com wicked awesome.
