Sumaging Cave
Sumaging Cave is is known as "the big cave" in Sagada. You need to a guide in exploring this cave because unlike the other caves, it is difficult to find your way inside. A thorough exploration can take up to six hours. The entrance is slippery, very damp and full of bat craps . The guide will show you the different forms of the cave rocks which they gave names to, such as pig pens, pregnant woman, etc. Moving further, you can go down the steep rocks barefoot because the rocks are flat and rough enough. You'll be surprised to see a sort waterfall so time for a refreshing swim. It is very deep (more than six feet below). The water is fresh and crystal clear. If you are daring enough, you can ask your guide to bring you to the part of the cave where it is very narrow. You have to crawl in entering the opening. The water flows from above and it is a thrilling experience. The most exciting part is hanging on to a rope in crossing a pool of water, it is so deep that falling below can be fatal.
