                                           EUROPEAN COLD WAR VETERANS CHARTER

The Dutch Cold War Veterans Committee, founded in 2003, and focussing on all Cold War veterans of the Dutch Navy, Army and Airforce, both regulars and national servicemen, does not only strive for the national recognition  of Dutch Cold War Veterans but also for recognition of all NATO/SEATO and former European Warsawpact Cold War Veterans.                EUROPEAN COLD WAR VETERANS APPEAL FOR PEACE AND STABILITY

The Dutch Cold War Veterans Committee focussing through her European Charter on all Cold War veterans of the E.U.  and former  Warsawpact  whishes to express her deepest concern with the present situation emerging from the withdrawal of the CFE-agreement by Russia. It also whishes to express her disapproval of the new reinforcement of both the Russian Armed Forces in Western Russia and of NATO troops  in Eastern Europe.

One Cold War was enough, as many parties stated after 1991, is still an acceptable saying. The European Cold War Veterans, by whom the Cold War will never be forgotten, strongly  appeal to the common sense of both you, Mr. President  and Mr. Secretary-General, to avoid any unnessesary confrontation between armed forces and to actively search for an enduring peace and stability in Eastern Europe.

It is our aim to come to an European Association of Cold War vets to fight for our rights at NATO.
Nato answer received to our suggestions for recognition today:
Thanks for all efforts and loyalty to the organization, but none of  your suggestions are in consideration at this moment.

Let us all join together and sign the online petition to urge NATO to issue the Cold War (Remembrance) Medal or to urge NATO to issue an Allied Unit Award for Cold War 1949-1991. Such unit award should be translated into a streamer on Unit Colors and a ribbon to wear for its veterans. Every military unit from every Nato Allied nation participated in the ultimate ending of the Cold War. See page 3 of this site. Also urge your home-politicians to commemorate the history of freedom in Europe and the most important sacrifice our servicemen and women gave in the more than 40 years of the Cold War.
