Chapter 34

He looked up from his puzzle when she laid down on the couch, resting her feet in his lap. She smiled as she reached for the book on the end table. He returned her smile, then returned to his puzzle.

They were quiet for a few moments before he looked back at her. "What are you reading?"

She peered at him over the book, gently tapping the cover.

He chuckled. "Skeleton Crew? And how many times ARE you going to read that?"

She smiled and rubbed her foot against him, giggling as his eyes closed. "Until I get tired of it... asshole..."

He laughed and gently rubbed her knee, looking into her eyes before turning back to his puzzle.

He looked up when she laid her book on the coffee table and stood up, walking towards the door. Puzzled, he silently questioned her. She smiled gently at him. "Doorbell."

He felt the flush rise to his face quickly. "Oh."

She leaned down and kissed the top of his head. "It's okay, you know?" He merely nodded. She sighed lightly as she headed to the door, opening it to find Catherine.

"Hey Cath." She moved slightly to the side to allow her in the house.

Noticing her tousled hair, Catherine smiled. "Um... I didn't interrupt anything, did I?"

Sara laughed and shook her head. "No... I was just lying on the couch reading."

Catherine looked over at Grissom and saw the flush in his cheeks. "Uh... you sure?"

Sara followed her gaze. She sighed heavily, thinking about the fact that Gil hadn't heard the doorbell. Certain frequencies were getting harder for him to hear. She could deal with it, but it broke her heart to see him embarrassed about it. She was glad that the doctor's appointment was getting closer. She turned back to Catherine. "Yeah, I'm sure... come in."

Grissom finally looked towards the door and smiled. "Hey Cath... how are you?"

She smirked as she sat in the chair next to the sofa. "Fine... busy night... be glad you all were off."

Grissom laughed and glanced towards Sara. "I am..." Watching Sara blush made him smile even more. Turning back to Catherine, he removed his glasses and laid his puzzle on the table. "So... what brings you by? I know you're not here to discuss work."

Catherine grinned. "No... I'm not here about work." She waited to continue until Sara had settled in beside Gil, resting her hand on his thigh. "We were talking last night..."

Grissom cocked an eyebrow at her. "We?"

"Yeah, you know... me, Warrick, and Nick?"

"Oh... about what?"

"The wedding." She watched with slight amusement as Grissom and Sara stole a quick glance towards each other. "Yeah... we were kind of curious..."

"About?"

Catherine sighed. "Well... location, time... you know specifics. All we know is the date. It's a week away Griss..."

"I'm well aware of that Catherine." He smiled broadly at her.

"So??"

"St. Gabriel's on East Maule... 3 pm. Reception at the Monaco following the ceremony. Small... Nick, Warrick, Brass, Doc Robbins, Greg... and their respective dates... you, Lindsey." He smiled as her jaw dropped slightly. "Anything else?"

She was quiet for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "And when were you going to tell us?"

Sara gently squeezed Gil's thigh. Smiling, she spoke. "We were going to tell you tonight. The arrangements weren't complete until yesterday afternoon."

"Oh." She processed the information for a moment, before looking back at Grissom. "St. Gabriel's? You're getting married in a Catholic church?"

He shrugged and smiled fondly. "I promised Mom."

Catherine returned his smile, causing Grissom to blush slightly. "So... what about the rings?"

Sara took hold of Gil's hand, lacing her fingers with his. "They've been ordered. In fact, we're supposed to pick them up tomorrow."

Catherine's eyes lit up. "Really? What do they look like?"

"They're... round." Grissom said, with just the slightest touch of sarcasm in his voice.

"Dammit Grissom!" Her voice was tinged with exasperation.

Gil laughed, stood, and walked towards the bedroom.

"Where the hell is he going?"

Sara smiled, watching Gil turn into their room. "To get the picture..."

Gil returned a few moments later. Saying nothing, but wearing a grin, he handed a piece of paper to Catherine. Catherine's eyes widened and her jaw dropped as she studied the picture. They were gorgeous... platinum bands with a thin inlay of 18 karat gold.

"Platinum?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "Her engagement ring is platinum. You can't have a gold wedding band with a platinum diamond. That would just... clash." Sara laughed loudly and scooted closer to Gil.

Catherine shook her head lightly, handing the picture back to Grissom. "They're beautiful."

Gil looked down at the picture, smiling ear to ear. "Thanks." He looked back to Sara and kissed her lips softly.

"So... St. Gabriel's, 3 pm?"

"Huh?" Breaking his gaze with Sara, he looked back at Catherine. "Oh... yeah..."

Catherine grinned and stood up, walking towards the door. "Okay, I'll pass along the news."

His concentration was fully on Sara again. "Yeah, okay... see you tonight."

Catherine chuckled, closing the door behind her.

The door had barely closed before Gil leaned into Sara. "You still feel like reading?" He brushed his lips against hers.

"Mmm..." Her tongue licked his lips. "No... I don't think so..."

He smiled and pulled her closer. "Good." He kissed her again and then stood. "I'll be back in a few minutes to get you."

"Where are you going?"

He caressed her cheek. "It's a surprise." He turned and walked down the hall, leaving her slightly confused.

He was gone only a few minutes, true to his word. He walked into the living room and took her hand, grinning like the Cheshire cat. "Gil? What are you up to?"

He raised his eyebrows and pulled her from the sofa. "Come on."

She followed him down the hall and into the bathroom. She gasped when she saw the tub full of hot water and... bubbles. "Gil..."

"I figured you'd like a nice, relaxing bath..." He began undressing her slowly.

"Will you be joining me?"

"Of course... well... unless you'd rather I not..."

"You silly, silly man." She quickly worked her way through the buttons on his shirt.

"Does this mean you'd like me in there with you?" He inhaled sharply as she kissed his chest.

Her hand wrapped around his neck and pulled him to her. She forcefully drove her tongue into his mouth as she quickly unbuttoned his pants and slid them down his legs. He kicked them to the side, gasping as she gently stroked him. Reluctantly, she broke the kiss and carefully stepped into the tub. He smiled as he followed her, playfully splashing the bubbles at her.

They settled into the hot water facing one another, her legs draped casually across his. "This IS a surprise."

He smiled as he lovingly rubbed his hands along her legs. "I'm glad you like it."

She slowly slid towards him, gradually straddling him. "Bubbles can be very erotic, you know?"

His hands snaked around her waist. "Oh?"

"Yeah." She lifted a handful of bubbles to his chest, gently rubbing them into his skin. His eyes closed as she had another handful, massaging them into his neck and working them into the hair at the nape. She leaned down and flicked her tongue across his lips. "You have beautiful lips, you know that?"

His eyes opened slowly and gazed into hers. His hands carefully covered her chest in bubbles before he pulled her to him, letting his mouth suckle on her neck. He smiled against her skin as she moaned lightly.

The combination of the hot water, bubbles, his mouth, and his hands intensified her need for him. Her finger traced his ear with bubbles before she leaned over and whispered to him. "Make love to me Gil."

He groaned as she reached into the water and grasped him tightly as she raised her body slightly. He looked into her eyes for a moment before running his fingers through her hair and pulling her to him. He coaxed her tongue, almost effortlessly he noticed, into his mouth. They moaned into each other's mouths as she slowly eased onto him.

His hands moved to her breasts, teasing her nipples. His head fell back against the cold tile wall as she started moving against him. "Oh... God... Sara..."

She smiled as her eyes closed. He began to thrust gently into her, one hand moving down to her hip. The water splashed onto his chest, eliciting another moan from him. She was right... bubbles... are... erotic. But, then... when was she wrong when it came to sex? He wondered briefly about whom she had done this with before... but then realized, it didn't really matter. She was marrying him. He smiled at the thought, moving his other hand down to steady her movements.

He could hear water splashing onto the tile floor of the bathroom. He didn't care.

Her mouth moved to his shoulder, biting his flesh. He smiled against the pain. She was close. He gripped her tighter and increased his thrusts. He could feel her tensing around him. "Gil... oh... Gil... yeah... like... oh... God... that... damn... love... oh..."

He smiled as she came, his orgasm quickly following hers. She collapsed against him, sending another small wave of water onto the floor. He gently caressed her back, placing gentle kisses on her neck.

She slowly eased off of him and smiled. "I told you."

He returned her smile. "I love you."

She grinned. "You better... you're stuck with me, you know?"

"Can't think of a better place to be stuck."

She splashed the bubbles across the tub at him.

They lovingly washed each other's bodies before climbing out of the tub. He took her hand to help her out. "Be careful." Seeing the puzzled look on her face, he continued. "There's... water on the floor."

She smiled sheepishly. "Sorry."

He threw a couple of towels on the floor to soak up the water. "I'm not." He softly kissed her lips. "Come on, let's get dressed."

"Where are we going?"

"I thought I'd take you out to dinner before work..."

She raised an eyebrow at him. "What's the special occasion?"

He shrugged his shoulders and smiled. "You're marrying me."
