Introduction

November, 26, 2004: Removed 2 wins from cris vs Underground on November 22 and 11 from Underground vs cris on November 23. If you want to exclude a disconnected game from the rankings then the player who got the win should e-mail me.

May, 30, 2003: I changed my mind; from now on the ranking page will be updated once a week (on Monday if possible).

Please e-mail countries of players in the ranking lists to me!

On this page you can find two ranking lists for Metaforge's WebStratego; one for classic games and one for barrage games. Both lists are calculated by using a rating system that is similar to the Chess Express Rating System. The basic idea is that you gain more points for beating a strong player than for beating a weak player. (And if you lose against a weak player then it will cost you more points than if you lose against a strong player.) More details on how the rating system works can be found on this page.

Both ranking lists only deal with games played on a Classic 2P board. The option Range Attacks can be switched on or off, but games that have one of the options Secrecy, One-Time Bombs or Economy switched on are ignored!

The ratings are calculated by using games played since June 28, 1999. The game results are taken from the WebStratego Results Archive. Unfortunately, the archive does not store games that ended in a draw and therefore those games are not used for calculating the ratings. Also, the archive does not contain information about disconnections, and for that reason games that locked are included. However, games with less than 10 turns are very likely to be lock-up's and are therefore disregarded (less than 5 turns in case of barrage).

The ranking lists show only players who played 11 or more games. Therefore the lists constain only registered players!
