The Free West - free Role Playing Game in the Wild West...














This is the website of the project "The Free West", a free role playing game, situated in the Wild West.

If you like smoking barrels, rough men fighting for their land, the trumpets of the cavalry and the howling of the indians, then please take part in the growth of this very game.
Here the heroic and romanticised western, as depicted by literature and motion pictures become reality.

If you like, you are welcome to help in this project!

What we need:

  • A game system. This includes such things as "what kind of attributes do we need"; "what kind of skills"; the damage and efficiency of the weapons - be it guns, knifes, tomahawks, arrows, spears, whips or fists; how are we going to determine the initiative and how does fastdraw come into play etc.

  • Stories. No good role playing game can live without a good series of stories. Within these, one must assure that there is more than just one kind of story. We can be sure that people will want to play different kinds of Western campaigns. In one party, the characters will be outlaws, in another they would be lawmen. Even soldiers of either the civil war or the indian uprisings might be possible as well as the indians themselves or perhaps they might even be Mexicans or others.

  • The setting. While there won't be much of work in this chapter at first glance, it might even turn out to be the hardest job. Facts need to be separated from fiction, geography and history need to be researched and we need every information we can get. Weapon smiths, rail road companies, tribes of indians, bank system, laws, known names from the past, important towns, and so on and so on...

    Due to the nature of this game setting, some critical and even politically incorrect items may be discussed. Please bear in mind, though, that this is ONLY A GAME!

    I am against any oppression of people, based on color, culture, religious, political or any other reason. Everybody should be free, and even if that is officially the case in some places, unfortunately the truth is really different. Even in the so called "free counties", racism is a very sad fact.

    In other words: I am in no way supporter of racism in any kind. Topics that I think to be crossing the vague edge between fiction and real racism will not be tolerated and will be deleted as soon as I am aware of them.
